When Bobby Valentino broke from Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace clique and started his own label in 2008 it was a risky move considering how Ludacris was a big rap star and Bobby wasn't nearly as successful - or respected - in the music world. But Bobby had said that his style of sensual R&B didn't fit in with DTP and that more of the real Bobby V. would be revealed on his third album, which is his first as his own man. Well, Rebirth, which was released in the U.S. on Feb. 10, 2009, is definitely the most ballad-oriented album of his career so far. But despite that, it's not much better than his previous efforts.

Elisha La'verne was an aspiring singer from a very young age and as she grew older she was constantly involved with music, be it studio work, shows or musicals. In her late teens she worked with a producer called Trevor Davy who introduced her to Maxi Priest's Dugout Productions. Maxi, his brother Martin Elliott and Tony Hearne (Personal Manager) helped Elisha to create her debut EP "Just Landed", Containing four original songs - the success of "Just Landed" EP prompted Dugout to move to the second single, "I Like What You Do To Me", written by Alan Glass (Aretha Franklin and Deniece William's) and George McFarlen. This song was being sold in HMV Tokyo Japan and eventually got to the ears of Ken Sato head of A&R for international acts at Avex Inc. Japan, Leading to Elisha signing a Major recording deal with Avex Inc Japan. Elisha's debut album "Her Name Is....." was an instant success in Japan selling over 100,000 units. Currently Elisha has released 7 album’s in Japan, The various collaborations on these albums has taken Elisha from London to Japan, America and Europe working with numerous producers and countless Tours. Elisha composed a song called “Change your way” for the play station game “Persona” and following interest and a release with Sony Germany her song “Elisha’s not at home” (Sean Hall) was placed on the soundtrack for the movie “Run Lola Run”

For many artists, appealing to diverse audiences is no easy feat. But for West Philadelphia natives Josh and Aziz Collins of the R&B/ Soul duo U.City (formerly United Soul), this task is accomplished with ease, style, and some good music.

With their debut album Reservations, released in February 2005, U.City has created a fusion of soul, rock, funk and hip hop all in one original sound. A sound that engages various demographics and causes attempts at a single defined genre to appear somewhat futile. Reservations serves as a reminder of soul music as it once was. This project features music that “warms the heart and reminds one of love lost, found and yearned for”, as Aziz describes it. Included on the album is the sultry single “Best of Me” which won the group the 2003 Heineken Music Initiative/ASCAP Foundation R&B Grant which recognizes the best rising songwriters across the country.
